Class 1A/G/C: Static Guard, Unarmed Guard , Loss Prevention Officer, Crowd Control Officer
This course provides you with all of the basic knowledge required to commence work as a crowd controller, an unarmed security guard or a loss prevention officer/ security guard in a retail environment. The course covers all of the basic entry level requirements for a Class 1A Class 1C and Class 1G security guard and is a mandatory requirement for new entrants to the industry.

1C subclass Crowd control- officers (formerly known as ‘bouncers’) work primarily on premises such as Hotels and sporting and other special events. This course provides you with all of the basic knowledge required to commence work as a crowd control officer and includes how to monitor crowds and protect people and property within licensed premises and how to manage conflict and deal effectively with intoxicated people. The course covers all of the mandatory entry level requirements for a Class 1C security guard and is a mandatory requirement for new entrants to the industry.
The 1G subclass was asked for by the Retail Industry to enable specialised training requirements and includes units of competency from the Retail Training Package. If you want to work in the Retail Security Industry, you can still complete a subclass 1A unarmed security course, then apply for both a 1A/G subclass licence.

This course is delivered over a total of 77 hours in a face to face classroom environment.

- The minimum age is 18 years
- There are no formal educational requirements for this course
- Students need a level of both written and verbal English to accurately collect and report information. A literacy test will be administrated by Access Training and only those students who pass the test will be accepted into the course.
Note: Candidates who fail to pass the literacy test will be referred to TAFE for support services and their names will be forwarded to the Security Industry Registry as having failed the literacy test.

At the end of this course you will be able to apply for a Provisional 1A, 1C or 1G Security Licence and will be able to start work. Once you receive your Provisional 1A, 1C or 1G Security Licence you have 12 months to complete the additional training required for an unrestricted 1A, 1C or 1G licence.
Note the ‘HLTFA301B Apply First Aid’ unit is compulsory and all participants must hold a valid first aid certificate before completion of the training. This is the responsibility of the student and the cost is not included in this course.

Assessment is based on competency, that is the ability to demonstrate specific skills, and is undertaken through a combination of observation, discussion, written assignments, tests, and/or practical application and work related projects. On-the-job-assessment may be either undertaken in the workplace, or in a simulated workplace environment.
