Funded Training – Traineeships

Access Training Institute is currently under contract and party to the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Western Australian Government’s User Choice Traineeship Program.
We offer quality, practical, competency based workplace training / traineeships, designed to be flexible and able to be tailored to your specific workplace needs. Training can be delivered in order to achieve your organisations particular requirements and desired outcomes with reduced impact on normal business activities.

Access Training Institute Will Provide:
- The learning and assessment resources
- Advice on assessment and flexible methods to cater for specific needs
- Monitoring and assessment visits for the duration of the traineeship
- Provide information to the supervisor on their roles and responsibilities
- Assist the supervisor in providing workplace training
- Provide quality training, assessment and supervision
- The appropriate certificate upon completion of the traineeship
Assessments:
The workplace assessor will seek evidence to confirm achievement of the competencies. This may entail:
- Supervisor Reports
- Interview & Questioning
- On-the-job Observation
- Practical Demonstration
- Written Questions
- Written Projects/Tasks
- Role Play
- Portfolio/Work Samples
- Assessors are bound by a code of practice to ensure that assessments are valid, reliable, flexible and fair.
- Appointments will be made for all assessment visits and seek the least disruption to normal workplace practice.
- Assessment visits will be kept as short as possible whilst still meeting the needs of the traineeship.

The employer is responsible for:
- Designate a Workplace Supervisor for the trainee that is responsible for providing training and coaching in the workplace.
- Providing a safe workplace where learning can occur.
- Meet any of the associated costs with the training.
The workplace supervisor is responsible for:
- The provision and delivery of instruction in the on the job training.
- Provide support and feedback to ensure that the trainee is able to acquire all the skills and knowledge necessary for achieving competency in accordance with the training plan.
- Providing ‘hands-on’ experience, the full range of work and appropriate facilities for the learner to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to complete the traineeship.
- The supervision, practice and support needed to develop skills.
- Co-ordinating workplace training and assessment so that it fits in with the learner’s everyday work and their training.
- Liaising with the workplace assessor regarding formal assessment times and methods.
- Signing the learner’s training plan, assessment visit reports and supervisor reports.

The student is obliged to:
- Make all reasonable efforts to acquire the skills of the vocation.
- Meet attendance and behaviour requirements.
- Advise your trainer if you have previous skills and knowledge you believe may be relevant to that these skills can be recognised.
- Seek feedback from your workplace supervisor (if applicable) and the trainer/assessor on your progress.
- Self assess in conjunction with the employer/supervisor prior to visits by the workplace assessor. This is to ensure they have thorough knowledge of the competencies and have the ability to demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to be deemed competent.
- Collect and present evidence relating to specific competencies and complete assessment work as discussed with workplace assessor.
- Participate in assessment visits, have completed work/evidence available and notify the workplace assessor in advance if they cannot attend scheduled appointments.
